Glass bottles pave California street with glasphalt
FULLERTON, Calif. AP More than a million used glass bottles and jars collected by Southern Californians have become the nation's first glasphalt street. A 600-foot road in an industrial park uses 300 tons of crushed glass mixed with stone dust and asphalt after a federally funded Missouri study. The paving saves crushed limestone and turns waste into productive material. Ed ward Goldstein of Glass Containers Corp. says the project converts glass waste into economic value and offers a five year city guarantee for satisfaction.
