Fritz the lion cub finds new home in Greene County

Fritz the 7 month old lion cub was taken in by a Greene County man who keeps exotic animals. Police say the cub was abandoned in a shed behind an unoccupied house and have been feeding him, spending at least 50 dollars on meat and vitamins.

Mary E. Pevee, 58, finally cashed a retroactive disability Social Security check for 3660.80 after public pressure. A bank initially refused without a cosigner, then allowed her to open an account and withdraw cash following appeals and protests by about 75 supporters.

Air crash injures instructor during student presentation

Cincinnati aircraft crash injures 47 year old Wilburn Anderson an aerobatics instructor hospitalized in fair condition at Providence Hospital. Ohio Highway Patrol says the biplane overshot the runway and crashed end over end as he attempted to raise the nose during a landing for high school aviation students.

Fifth Mariden Penitentiary escapee hunted near Rantoul

Officials renewed the hunt for Dennis D. Hunter 26 of Salem Ohio after a motorist said he drove an escapee to the Rantoul area. FBI agents and local police with dogs searched cornfields along Interstate 57 west of Rantoul in east central Illinois.
