Ohio hitchhiker denied bond in 17 murders case

Kenneth Taylor 37 of North Lima Ohio was denied bond by Judge Randall Wyatt in Nashville on murder auto theft and armed charges linked to the Labor Day death of David R Willie. Detectives say Taylor confessed to Willie and 16 other killings across Tennessee Ohio and Pennsylvania after leading to Willies body. He appeared unshaven in green clothes and sneakers, issued a handwritten statement, and was found competent to stand trial after psychiatric evaluation at a state facility.

Fireman Rescues Siamese Cat From Balcony Blaze

In New Orleans a fireman saved a Siamese cat using a small rug and carried it to safety. Two other Siamese cats and a bulldog were also pulled from a second floor balcony and taken to the ground unharmed.

Three Berea Family Die in Night Fire

Three members of a Berea family died in a home fire late Tuesday night. Joann Driscoll, 35, and her sons Kenneth, 8, and Patrick, 14, perished from smoke inhalation, according to a Berea Fire Department spokesman.

Cloudy skies and showers forecast tonight and Thursday with a low around 53 and a high near 70 tomorrow. This morning’s low was 52 after a 72 degree high yesterday. Friday looks fair with showers late Saturday into Sunday. Highs near 70 and lows about 50.

Heat recovery system stores body and equipment heat in Ohio complex

General Telephone Co plans a heat-recovery project in Marion to trap excess daytime heat from people and equipment in two 10 foot diameter fiberglass tanks buried under a driveway. The 140 degree water will feed building coils at night, saving about 18000 dollars annually on a 105000 dollar system beginning next year for the three building complex including headquarters divisions and GTE Data Services.
