Wayne County prosecutor says he will seek warrants charging Carl Bolton and two unidentified men with the attempt on Walter P. Reuther’s life on April 20. Bolton Miller and Pantello are being held on unrelated burglary charges as investigators examine the case.
Gov James E Folsom endorsed President Truman and floated possible court steps to compel Alabama 11 electors to vote for the Democratic nominee He said Alabamians cannot vote for the President and suggested a special legislative session to place Truman on the ballot as an independent candidate in Alabama.

A 30 foot steel bridge in Livingston County was stolen. Thieves ripped off the flooring, tossed it into the stream, and dismantled the beams with a cutting torch before hauling the steel away. The bridge stood on a moderately used road and no witnesses were reported.
A B 29 bomber exploded near Waycross Georgia at altitude about 20000 feet killing nine. Fire in one engine and failure of another preceded the blast. Survivors said fragments scattered over 20 acres on Robert Zachry Jr Farm. Victims included five Air Force men and four civilian technicians.
