Five4) Now A Solid Hit
CBS Hawaii Five-O, once considered for cancellation, has matured into a solid hit now four years old. It ranks fourth in Nielsen ratings, aided by Hawaii’s tropical setting. The episode featured Steve McGarrett tackling a four-family underworld tied to gambling and narcotics, with a mainland syndicate overlord and a dead body found near a beach stake. The show’s fortunes rise and fall with competition from ABC’s Movie of the Week. Med Squad struggles to stay fresh after four seasons. Milton Berle’s dramatic turn and a drinking problem lift this week’s hour. The three young undercover agents, Michael Cole Peggy Lipton and Clarence Williams III are praised for subdued, capable performances in a Thanksgiving themed CBS report.
