Pay Board Chief Caples Sees Isolated 168% Case
Kenyon Caples, head of a small liberal arts college, told a Manchester audience that the Pay Board’s 168 percent wage increase for soft coal workers was an isolated case and not a precedent. He urged maintaining public confidence while noting Phase 2 limits and the likelihood of Phase 3 inflation controls beyond 1972. He also criticized AFL-CIO President Meany for remarks at a Miami Beach labor event.
