Fenwick High basketball coach John Rossi vows to stay seated during games due to a leg injury from last summer. He manages a sparse squad as players balance football playoff duties and early season scrimmages are restricted, affecting the Falcons timetable.
Coach Rossi projects a 1960s Falcons lineup with Acra at center and Otto, Boxwell, and Martin on the wings. Denny McConnell as guard, Acta the 6-4 anchor, and Clements Dineen Bruggeman add depth. Transition from football may bring bigger, faster play as Rossi seeks a return to Mid Miami supremacy.
Talawanda High eyes a winning season for 1967 as coach Dave Butcher relies on six seniors to lead an undersized lineup. Key players include Rick Raines 6-5 center Chuck Hughs 6-0 guard Mike Davis 6-5 forward and others Kevin Purcell Greg Franks and John Bohn with juniors Dennis Truett Greg Sullivan and Gary Bennett also in rotation.
Local basketball activity listed with venues Frisch's Big Boy at 1800 Germantown Rd and 3207 St. Main St plus First National Bank offices and McAlpin's Middletown Shopping Center. Details indicate scheduling of games or events in community spaces.
