Celebreeze and Wirtz predicted a flat seven dollar monthly increase in Social Security benefits within a broad health care package approved by the Senate. They described an eight month countdown to fulfill obligations impacting about half the cohort, with 200000 unable to enter college and 900000 seeking jobs not available.
Sen. Karl Mundt urged a nine member Republican summit presided by Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower to craft new programs and widen GOP appeal. Paula A. Lynch, 5, was killed and Anita Lynch, 4, critically injured when struck by a car on Front Street in New Philadelphia Ohio. The woman driver was not held.
President Johnson accepted the resignation of Walter W. Heller as chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers and named Gardner Ackley to succeed him. Mrs Eleanor Brewster aged 24 of Columbus was fatally injured Saturday night in a two car crash just east of Reynoldsburg. The collision occurred on a suburban road near Reynoldsburg as police investigated the cause and whether speed contributed to the deadly wreck.
