Denver doctors weigh keeping Linda Culbertson on artificial life support for five weeks to save her 15 week fetus after brain death from a two car crash. The fetus has a heartbeat but cannot survive unaided before 20 weeks.
Washington AP reports a new tax law will force the Internal Revenue Service to publish the thousands of rulings it issues annually while withholding the names of corporations and individuals involved. The change follows years of restricting access to rulings. The House Ways and Means Committee oversees the measure as it moves through Congress.
Carter aides outline a spokes of the wheel model with several top aides equal access, rejecting a single chief of staff. Powell notes a smaller White House staff and a broad briefing process with input from 175 experts as Jordan reviews Cabinet and staff screening. Carter eyes return to Plains and opts to use one plane for the party.
A study warns natural gas supply will be short of demand but not severe for homeowners. The shortage could trigger layoffs in certain industries in states such as Iowa and North Carolina where gas is notably scarce.
In Celina Ohio Judge James W Myers spared 21 year old John Kremer jail time after a no contest plea to vehicular homicide in the March 7 crash that killed eight Minster area teens. He received a one year license suspension a $300 court cost fine and may drive to and from work after 30 days. The judge noted Kremer created his own jail by the negligent act. Victims’ families urged mercy while acknowledging the tragedy.
Temperatures fall into the 20s tonight with Thursday highs in the low to mid 40s. Partly cloudy skies loom, 20 percent precipitation risk. Yesterday reached 55 with a 32 overnight low. Extended outlook shows cold to come with lows 15 to 25 and highs in the 30s, with a chance of snow Friday and Saturday.
