County health plan switch eyed to save funds

Butler County Commission approved a three year contract with CEBCO the County Employee Benefits Consortium of Ohio to provide health insurance. The package costs about 950000 a month about 9.4 percent higher than the current Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield rates but is expected to save the county more than 500000 next year as Anthem plans a 29 percent rate increase. CEBCO offers three coverage options with varying employee contributions. A county health insurance advisory committee advised the move, noting CEBCO’s larger bargaining position and the county will gain two seats on the consortium board. The contract runs three years with first year rates fixed. officials praise the plan for employee flexibility and cost balance.
