Senate Clears Development Bill in Ohio Legislature
Ohio lawmakers completed passage of a development bill aimed at attracting and keeping industry, with an emergency clause allowing immediate effect upon the governor’s signature. It restructures the Department of Industrial and Economic Development into a five division department of development and creates a seven member development financing commission to back revenue bonds for loans to industry. The measure, tied to Gov James A. Rhodes’s pledge, could span up to four years for financing with up to 6 percent interest.
