Middletown Teachers Seek $500 Start Pay Increase
Representatives of the Middletown Classroom Teachers Assn ask the Board of Education to raise starting salaries by about $500 and provide $200 yearly increments. The proposed scale would start at $3,800 for inexperienced teachers and rise to $7,000 for those with a master's and 14 years’ experience. The MCTA notes merit rating and tax implications, while noting some teachers may leave if the scale changes. The board will study the proposal after the citizens committee report.
