Duquesne Tamburitzans Promote Free Education Through Balkans Music
Duquesne University's Tamburitzans led by 35 year old Matt Gouze draw large crowds and provide scholarships to members. The two hour concerts feature tamburitza strings, violins, pianos, and dances from the Balkans with students aged 17 to 22. Members live in a dorm setup. they study 7 to 9:30 and can roam campus briefly. Gouze, a former St. Edwards coach, now directs a group seen as a major Slavic cultural showcase with tours across the country.usions
