Protest Halts Kennedy Traffic Over Concorde Landing
A two hour traffic jam at Kennedy Airport followed a Sunday protest against the Concorde SST with 1,800 demonstrators. 800 to 1,000 cars blocked routes. some summonses issued. two 16 year olds detained for alleged assault. passengers walked between terminals. Air France noted Concorde service carried 18,839 passengers on 314 flights in a year. A federal judge ruled the Port Authority cannot ban Concorde flights pending appeal.
