Cancer Institute weighs Laetrile human tests

The National Cancer Institute considers clinically testing Laetrile on volunteers to assess cancer treatment potential. Acting director Dr Guy Newell noted states have moved to legalize Laetrile despite FDA bans, and the institute will decide within 60 days with initial results in about six months.

New tax cuts boost 46 million paychecks starting June 1

The 1978 tax cuts reduce weekly withholding by about 2.13 dollars for most workers and significantly lower taxes for families earning under 15 thousand dollars. The law raises standard deductions to 3200 for joint filers and 2200 for single or head of household, while still benefiting those who do not itemize. IRS directs employers to adjust withholding automatically to reflect the new deductions.
