Mayor Holland moves his family into a mixed Trenton slum
Trenton Mayor Arthur J. Holland and his wife Betty with infant Cynthia moved Feb 28 into a century-old house at 138 Mercer St in a racially mixed block slated for urban renewal. He took a $7,000 mortgage and a $10,000 loan for renovations, spending at least $2,000 more out of pocket. Neighbors praise the gesture while questions arise about finances and political impact.
