The defendants include Yale chaplain William Sloane Coffin Jr Harvard graduate student Michael Ferber New York author Mitchell Goodman and Washington Institute co director Marcus Raskin. They face up to five years and a 10000 fine. The defense says acts were lawful protest protected by the first amendment. The trial narrows to whether turning in draft cards constitutes a crime.
