Ping Pong Talents Stir Family Backlash in Ohio
John Tannehill a UC freshman and ping pong player who toured China last month says he fears returning to Midport Ohio where locals once expelled him over his hair. His father Chester, editor of the Gallipolis Sentinel, calls him immature. Tannehill regrets some remarks and doubtfully plans a return given possible backlash. He spoke after competing in the Midwest Table Tennis Tournament in Columbus.

Weekend Accidents Kill 13 in Ohio
The Associated Press reports 13 people died in Ohio traffic crashes over the weekend. A ten year old Michigan boy, Thomas Lynn Duncan of Mt. Clemens, was burned to death when a propane unit exploded in a camper near Findlay on I-75 west of Van Buren. His mother Kaye Marie Duncan was driving. two other passengers were unhurt. All weekend fatalities were single-vehicle. Last week 10 died on Ohio highways.

Newsboys Help Save Couple as Fire Roars Through Cincinnati
Two 16 year old newsboys rushed a front door and pulled a couple from a third floor apartment in Cincinnati after flames and smoke forced evacuation. They could not reach two young women later found dead in the same building. Firefighters say the women probably died from smoke before rescue attempts.
