Court reviews NFL free agent setup in appeal session
MINNEAPOLIS AP The Sth U S Circuit Court of Appeals at the University of Minnesota heard arguments on whether the NFL free agent system needs further investigation as part of a Players Association case Ed Garvey says most YFL clubs did not bid during bargaining agreement approved in March 1977 Only six of 93 players received offers this year with some totally free to sign elsewhere Garvey says the agreement fails as clubs claim a perpetual option on free agents and management shows bad faith with limited bidding
