The Army would move the 7th Special Forces Group from Fort Bragg to Eglin Air Force Base to share training with Air Force troops. Walter Reed Hospital would move to the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda to create a larger joint facility bearing the Walter Reed name. Rumsfeld noted fewer closures than anticipated, with 775 minor closures and realignments versus 235 in earlier rounds, as surplus space would host troops returning from overseas.
