Law bent for Indians squirrel hunt near Little Axe
Richard Gibson of the Shawnee tribe told the Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Commission that it is tribal custom to hunt 100 squirrels during a ceremony near Little Axe when the first full moon appears. The hunt occurs before the May 15 squirrel season opening, but the commission allowed the hunt.

A federal district court in Atlanta upheld Georgia's antitrespass law used in civil rights protests and denied freedom for Tom Tolg a 23 year old Miami University student.
