Franklin residents oppose city annexation over sewer plans

About 50 townspeople attended a Franklin City Building hearing on sewering the area south of the city along Dixie Highway and Decker Road. City Manager Bernard Eichholz said sewers and annexation require consent, and most present raised their hands to end the discussion. The group focused more on annexation fears than sewer costs, while Eichholz noted developers would pay trunk sewer costs and residents could tap in later. Township Trustee Herbert Swiger said the area could be severed if enough residents favored it, avoiding annexation.
