Mondale pledges Southeast Asia aid during Bangkok stop
Vice President Mondale backed the 1954 pledge to aid Southeast Asia against Communist aggression and said the U.S. has no current plans for ground troops. In Bangkok he discussed accepting 25,000 more Indochinese refugees annually, selling more warplanes to Thailand, and raised human rights as refugees toured the Din Daeng transit center. He called the Thailand visit highly successful and pledged continued support for refugees and regional stability.
