In March 1870 the first U S grand jury with women was empaneled in Laramie Wyoming. The ladies promptly indicted every town businessman for opening stores on Sunday a law banning Sunday sales that had been largely ignored before.
A reader recounts a dream bridge hand in six clubs with West leading a trump and a sequence that yields a slam. He narrates discarding hearts, cashing spades, and diamonds to force the last five tricks. The letter ends with fond wishes to Mr Becker and a note on a 1963 flight feat by Rear Adm James R Reedy.
