COLUMBUS Ohio Edison Co will have about 6 more dollars added to monthly bills for 53 communities as the Ohio Public Utilities Commission approves a 5 552 000 rate hike raising utility revenue by roughly 19 percent. The move follows a request for 7 9 million and could take effect within six weeks once new schedules are approved. Ohio Edison serves 800 000 customers across 35 counties.

Rhodes signs water sale tax exemption bill for households
Gov. James A. Rhodes signed a bill exempting bulk water sales for domestic use from the state sales tax. The measure extends the exemption to thousands of Ohio homeowners who buy water by tank or truckload and takes effect June 28. Rhodes also signed emergency bills to aid park financing by counties and to create a full time Bowling Green Municipal Court judge, plus a measure lifting state liens on certain elderly welfare property, effective June 28.
