Solomon Brewer Jr. four spent a cold night in a field with his dog Toodles. A search party found them three miles from their home in Stalkdale. Doctors at Scioto Memorial Hospital said the dog's warmth saved the boy's life after he slept beside the animal.
Ernest Moore John Boston and Stephen Chin led three inmates in a 12 hour hold of four guards at the Federal House of Detention. The four story jail with 376 inmates had begun to release captives with no lifethreats, while initial demands were dropped.
Ohio service station operators say the presidential order to allow Sunday gas sales adds no new supply and may mislead consumers. They report few stations will open, arguing the shortage persists despite the move and that it irritates both customers and dealers. James V. Cresente of the Northern Ohio Petroleum Retailers Association criticizes the statement as creating an impression of abundant gasoline.
