City asks state funds boost after budget cut
Middletown faces a tightened 1948 budget after Butler County Commission slashed the city’s certified amount from 539 060.02 to 426 529.25. Acting city manager Fred J. Schatzmann said state sales tax and other revenues fell short by about 20 000, prompting consideration of appealing for more funds. Total estimated receipts run about 1 155 894.26 with a 363 448.25 on hand balance. The plan also contemplates possible salary changes and March 31 deadline for budget finalization.
