Battle to curb crime in Philadelphia intensifies
Philadelphia police launch an all out battle against crime as a manhunt scours the city for a slayer who killed two liquor store employees and wounded another. Public Safety Director Samuel Rosenberg vows a decisive program, with 900 officers conducting a door to door search in a two square mile area for the suspect described as a short, squat black man. Four people are killed in robberies since New Year’s Day, authorities report.
