Mojica Finds Phosphates in Colombia During Expedition
Geologist Christopher Columbus Ped ro Mojica, hired by Colombia’s Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, discovers phosphate deposits in Colombia. The exploration, funded by a $2 million USAID loan, follows Mojica’s AID-supported study at the University of North Dakota in 1967 and a trek into the Andes under expedition head Francisco Zambrano.
