US spokesmen say 110 enemy soldiers were killed in three clashes over 24 hours as Viet Cong shelled provincial capitals and military posts for the third straight day. About 75 miles north of Sai Gon, 101st Airborne paratroopers faced 150 Viet Cong at a village, with 250 reinforcements arriving and artillery support continuing.
Spokesmen said Americans killed 56 enemy soldiers while five Americans died and 26 were wounded. Along the Da Nang coast Americal Division units reported 64 enemy killed in two clashes. Artillery and air strikes inflicted many enemy fatalities as bunkers held. Two Americans were killed and 23 wounded.
U S headquarters reported 13 Americans killed and 54 wounded as clashes continued near Ca Mau and Con Thien. Marines at Con Thien reported destroying tracked vehicles later found to be wooden decoys. Light shelling at Khe Sanh with about 100 rounds and possible movement toward Hue as next objective.
An Air France Boeing 707 crashed on a Guadeloupe mountainside near Sainte Claude, killing all 63 aboard. The plane, en route from Santiago to Paris with stops in Lima Quito Caracas and Guadeloupe, carried 49 passengers and 14 crew. Among the dead were Paris-Match reporters Hubert Herzog and Tony Saulnier.
The forecast for Southwest Ohio and the Miami valley expects above normal temperatures from Thursday through Monday with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s and nightly lows in the upper 20s to 30s. A warming trend Friday and Saturday precedes little overall change. Yesterday reached 59 degrees with a 33 degree low and 0.2 inch of rain fell overnight.
Marie Antonee a 22 year old exotic dancer caused traffic disruption along Denver Colorado main street at noon Tuesday as she rode a horse to promote a show titled Lady Godiva. Police halted the stunt after a 10 block ride and cited her for obstructing traffic before detaining her in a paddy wagon.
In Washington a dispute arises among Senate leaders over how to respond if a North Korea mediated appeal by Pueblo crewmen is authentic. President Johnson weighs the letter as authentication is checked while Mansfield calls for assurances before any pledge and Russell pushes for release without admitting ship seizure.
The Senate narrowly rejected an effort to exempt single family homes from the civil rights open housing bill and defeated a liberal bid to block antiriot amendments. A tougher antiriot package was advanced as the seven week battle over the measure continued. The chamber voted 82 to 13 to attach a provision making it a federal crime to cross certain lines.
British Coast Guard helicopter rescued all 45 crewmen from the Ocean Prince oil rig 110 miles off England in 80 mile winds and heavy seas. The rig toppled after dawn as crews were moved first to the Constellation rig and then to Scarborough. No casualties were reported. The Ocean Prince is owned by Ocean Drilling and Exploration Co. (U.K.) Ltd.
A Fort Lauderdale man, James H Lane, worked as a pilot for Eastern Air Lines on the Washington to New York shuttle despite only holding a private license. FAA officials alerted the Justice Department and planned crosschecks of crew rosters, warning others could be faked pilots. Lane said he wasn’t checked.
A Colombian DC4 plane seized by three gunmen lands at Santiago in eastern Cuba with passengers including a senator and a presidential aide. The crew says hijackers demanded asylum from Fidel Castro's government as the plane sits at the hotel. No U.S. citizens aboard reported.

Cincinnati Reds pitcher Jim Maloney ended his holdout in Tampa by rejoining the team. He said his return followed a reconsideration that the pay gap was nominal after government taxes.
