Firebombing of Leader's Home Ups Tension at Wounded Knee

A firebomb reportedly hit the home of AIM communications director Aaron Desersas during a negotiating session with 200 militants at Wounded Knee South Dakota. Senator McGovern said the incident intensified fears as 11 hostages had been freed but chose to stay in the village. Police declined comment as federal authorities surrounded the hamlet and urged talks to end the armed standoff.

North Viets to release 106 POWs

The U S delegation said North Vietnam will release 106 American prisoners in Hanoi on Sunday while Viet Cong threats to block 30 South Vietnam prisoners stall the exchange. A four party Joint Military Commission meeting yielded no progress on the dispute as Hanoi set a Sunday transfer time and Saigon awaited further word.

Arabs, hostages to fly to U S from Khartoum amid demands

The Sudanese government agreed to provide a plane to fly Arab guerrillas and hostages to the United States from Khartoum. The Black September group demanded the release of colleagues and safe passage, including two Sudanese cabinet members, which Khartoum rejected. Two Americans among hostages include Ambassador Noel and Curtis Moore. others are Adley Nasser and Guy Eid. Explosives were found, negotiations continued, and demands shifted toward Daoud’s release and possible safe passage to Algeria or Libya.

Middletown Welfare Aid Program Gets Extra 20000

The Butler County Welfare Department reports Middletown area funding for the Service Employment Project rises by 20000 to a total of 210000 in federal funds. About five more workers will be hired to repair homes and provide transportation and related tasks for aid recipients while Gov Gilligan pursues expansion to more counties.
