Planning Board Rebuffs Corner Rezoning Bid
The city planning commission voted unanimously to deny a rezoning request from single family residence to neighborhood business for seven lots at the southeast corner of Central Avenue and Marshall Road. Proponents argued the area had long planned for business use, citing 1947 placings and a potential 28,000 square foot building with a drug store and hospital offices. Opponents contended the 1955 ordinance barred business zoning in the tract and warned against undermining property rights. The planning director noted R 3 zoning could allow a hospital and clinics, but master plan and sewer constraints argued against new construction.
