New King Kong Scene Draws Massive New York Crowd
In New York 5000 spectators watched a staged King Kong fall from the World Trade Center site as Dawn the monster’s captive, played by Jessica Lange, stood nearby. The 40 foot gorilla prop, made of foam and rubber, lay “dead” while the actual fall was filmed in Hollywood with a mechanical monster. The NY sequence, part of a 22 million remake, will be shot again at night costing about 250 thousand dollars for three takes.
