Ohio considers 5 percent tax on utility bills in first tax measure
In Columbus Ohio representatives billed a 1 to 5 percent excise tax on telephone gas electric water and sewer costs to raise funds for counties with revenues shared into general funds. The proposal seeks local taxing authority without a statewide vote and aims to help finance welfare and education plans while other bills flow through the legislature.
