Colorado Camp-Out G irl Scouts Readied for Big Roundup

The Brookmoor Patrol of the Middletown Area Girl Scout Council prepares for the 1959 Senior Roundup in Colorado Springs from July 3 to 12. Ten thousand scouts from the U S and 27 countries will live in a city of 6 000 tents near Pikes Peak.

Roundup Camp Demonstrations and Staff Plans Details

Demonstrations are scheduled daily at 23 camps and two all encampment arenas on site. Roundup delegates depart June 3 and reach the campsite July 1 with 1,500 adult campers serving as troop leaders drivers and staff. Assistant troop leaders include Dorothy Miles Esther Marjcum and Eva Louise Polley from the Middle town Area Council.

Maple Heights Chief Cleared, Reinstated After Dismissal

Edward Prasek, 47, was cleared of statutory rape charges and reinstated as Maple Heights police chief after Common Pleas Judge Earl R. Hover dismissed the case. Two witnesses refused to testify and the 16 year old Euclid girl could not positively identify the chief.

World YMCA Drives $9,250 for Buildings for Brotherhood

Local Y launches Day of Dedication to raise $9,250 toward the international B4B program among diverse communities. The campaign aims to help fund 116 new facilities in 33 countries and rebuild war‑damaged Y centers including Seoul's $700,000 project.

Summer Band Concerts Set in Middletown

The Middletown Department of Parks and Recreation announces summer band concerts starting June 26 at Sunset Park. Harold Koerber leads for his fourth year. Junior band 7–7:30 p.m., senior 7:30–8:15 p.m. Rehearsals 6–7:30 p.m. on specified weekdays.

Turtle Lives For 26 Years On Roadside Find

Paul Harvey, who at 17 marked a Stewartsville farm turtle with initials P H and year 1933, spotted the same turtle on a road near Stewartsville. The veteran broadcaster then freed the creature again, noting the markings still legible after all these years.
