Rhodes seeks third term with filing of petitions

Former Gov. James Rhodes refiled petitions with Secretary of State Ted Brown seeking a third term. The Ohio Supreme Court had ruled the prohibition on three consecutive terms, opening the door to another campaign. Rhodes, a former Columbus mayor and state auditor, seeks the GOP nomination for governor next May. He filed 2,948 signatures from 72 counties, with 1,000 needed and a cap of 3,000. He praised Brown while criticizing Democratic persecution over a real estate license issue. Brown predicted the filing may deter rivals and stop speculation about a Senate bid.
