Dismal parts of TV show dulls a summer premiere
AP reviews ABCs The Val Doonican Show and Bobbys Sherman special as bland notings with awkward dialogue and thin non musical moments. The piece notes Doonican’s relaxed style, the guests, and a stiff Laurel and Hardy routine, plus a later look at Sherman and the Fifth Dimension. It also covers CBS Belmont Stakes telecast and Canonero IIs near Triple Crown bid, praising the production while noting pacing problems and replays.
