Fire on Rasa Sayang cruise ship near Malaysia
Aboard the Rasa Sayang with 989 aboard caught fire in the Malacca Strait. Two crew members died and three are missing. Most passengers and many crew were safely evacuated to the Japanese tanker Sankyo Prestige and landed at Port Dickson. The ship, owned by Norwegian and Hong Kong firms, remained adrift heading to Singapore.
