Harold Lloyd estate sells for 1.6 million in Beverly Hills auction

The 16 acre Greenacres estate once owned by silent star Harold Lloyd fetched 1.6 million from 21 bidders. Larry Goodman bid 1.1 million cash while Nasrollah Ashfani offered 1.6 million term bid. Trustees will decide by 5 p.m. Tuesday on accepting a bid.

Telethon Falls Short of Goal for California Democrats

California Democratic officials say the weekend telethon raised about 4.7 million dollars, short of a 6 million goal by roughly 1 million. Pam Duffy noted California fared better than other states, with smaller contributions than last year and the show costing an estimated 2.6 million to produce from ABC Studios in Hollywood.
