A 22 year old steel worker Bob Finnegan was hit by four vehicles within two minutes on Falls road in Belfast. He suffered a fractured skull pelvis leg and other injuries but hospital officials said he will recover.
President Ford defends his Helsinki statement as a nonbinding good intent accord. He stated the United States maintains nonrecognition of Soviet Lithuania Latvia and Estonia and will not alter policy at Helsinki. The 10 day trip includes Bonn Warsaw and further stops in Poland Finland Romania and Yugoslavia.
