Fuel adjustment costs add average $380 to bills study says

A Library of Congress study for Senate committees found households paid an average of $380 in fuel adjustment charges over three years. It notes utilities often include transportation and transmission loss costs in these automatic adjustments and raises concerns that consumers do not know what they are paying for.

Hanafi Moslems convicted over Washington siege and hostage crisis

A jury in Washington convicted 12 Hanafi Muslims for their roles in last March siege that held 149 hostages across three buildings. They were found guilty of second degree murder in the death of a radio newsman but acquitted on felony murder. Defendants aged 20 to 54 listened as judge Nunzio announced 373 counts. Leader Hamaas Abdul Khaalis headed the group.

Funeral director Homer Leffler dies in Hamilton

Longtime funeral director Homer D. Leffler, 64, died of an apparent heart attack after riding his high wheeled bicycle in the Antique and Classic Auto Festival. He collapsed after crossing the Miami River bridge and was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital. Leffler led McCoy Leffler Funeral Home and was active in Masons and community groups. He leaves wife Dorothy and three children, with survivors including a son in California and daughters in Ohio.

Egypt accuses Libyan raids as eight planes downed

Libya says its forces shot down eight Egyptian warplanes during massive strikes inside Libyan territory. Egypt denies air raids inside Libya and says clashes occurred on the border. Libyan leader Khadafy warns of retaliation if aggression continues. Egypt says it bombed a Libyan air base near Tobruk.

Cloudy Warm Week with Thunder Showers Possible

The forecast shows cloudy and warm conditions with a 40 percent chance of thundershowers today. Highs will be in the mid-80s and tonight’s low in the mid-60s with a 60 percent overnight rain chance. Monday’s high returns to the 80s and the forecast calls for thundershower chances Tuesday and Thursday with week-long highs in the 80s.
