Pan Am Jetliner Crashes Off Tahiti Harbor

A Pan American Boeing 707 crashed into the sea north of Papeete Harbor after taking off for Los Angeles. Four survivors were taken to Papeete hospital, where a stewardess died. Three bodies recovered. The crash occurred around 10:15 p.m. local time.

Nixon forbids Senate access to White House tapes and records

Fire forces evacuation at Tollgate Square apartments

In Montgomery near Cincinnati Ohio a Sunday night fire of undetermined origin sent about 20 residents from Tollgate Square to safety. Fire Chief Lloyd Rasch said the blaze started in a third floor unit occupied by Pat Anderson 42 manager of the complex. Anderson suffered smoke inhalation and injuries from a fall and was hospitalized at Bethesda North. Most of the 11 apartments sustained smoke and water damage.
