Abandoned Wawa Station Becomes Home For Three Tenants
In Wawa Pennsylvania Conrail rents out an empty one story stone station to Brian Stevens and Terry Van Wyk Daly and Stevens moved in January 1974 after in August 1973 they asked about leasing the building. The station serves 15 commuter trains daily and a Conrail freight runs Sunday nights. The residents say renovations cost about three to four thousand dollars with only 25 dollars monthly rent. They expect to stay at least two more years and acknowledge a long history of repurposed stations.
