Subways Targeted by Robbery Gangs in New York
AP reports two white riders were attacked and robbed on Manhattan trains amid fears of similar incidents last Memorial Day. Victims Julian Zalewski, 57, actor, and William Greene, 51, Yonkers pharmacist, lost cash and valuables as gangs—one led by a man in a silk top hat—tormented passengers. Authorities described the attacks as robberies rather than racially motivated.
