All Savings Accounts Rates Raised by American S&L
American Savings & Loan Association says it will raise rates on all savings accounts to the new maximums. Passbook accounts go to 5.25 percent and a 90 day certificate yields 5.75 percent with a $1,000 minimum. Existing certificates must mature to avoid penalties under new rules. Similar moves by other local thrift institutions followed.
