Anthrax cleanup begins at AMI building in Florida
Workers pump chlorine dioxide into the American Media Inc. building in Boca Raton to kill anthrax spores, aiming for 24 to 36 hours of decontamination followed by tests. BioONE led by Rudolph Giuliani will occupy the space as its crisis management venture, with move-in hoped by year end. The incident links to the 2001 anthrax attacks that killed five people, including Sun photo editor Bob Stevens, and disrupted major mail facilities and Senate offices after Sept. 11.
