Alaska pipeline bypass eyed after Thompson Pass blast
Alyeska officials weigh a bypass that would cross Thompson Pass to keep oil moving after a blast at Pump Station No 8. The plan aims to lift flow above 600000 barrels daily, but the target 1.2 million barrels a day by year end 1977 may be dropped. NTSB investigators interview workers to pin down the explosion cause.
