Supreme Court finds gag rule unconstitutional in mass murder case
The Supreme Court unanimously ruled a Nebraska judges prior restraint on news coverage unconstitutional. Chief Justice Burger said barriers to prior restraint remain high, but allowed possible future limits to protect fair trials. Justices White Blackmun Powell Rehnquist joined in the opinion with others concurring separately.
