Army and Guard trial shorten enlistment period nationwide
The Defense Department will test a shortened drill and summer camp period to boost enlistments. In 16 states, three years of meetings replace six, after which reservists need not train. In 13 states, four years of meetings followed by two years inactive reserve.

Miami Rev vehicle wins design prize at REV 1973
Miami University engineering technology students led by Dr. John F. Stephens won first in originality and second in endurance in the REV 1973 all terrain contest at Houghton Michigan. Teams from Rose-Hulman Ohio Cincinnati West Virginia University and Michigan Tech competed. the Rose-Hulman entry won the endurance race.
