Amtrak Train Derails Near Huntington Injuring Two
The James Whitcomb Riley No. 50 derailed early today five miles east of Huntington West Virginia injuring two people. About 180 passengers and crew watched as two coaches left the track and a quarter mile of track was torn up.

Explosions shook a refinery town ten miles south of Philadelphia injuring at least 29 people. Forty three aboard the Corinthos were unaccounted for while all vessels Edgar M Queeny crew were safe. The American tanker Edgar M Queeny struck the Corinthos unloading 100000 barrels of oil at a British Petroleum dock, igniting fires on both ships and shattering glass across a 12 block area. Delaware County Fire Marshal George Lewis described the blast as felt in Marcus Hook.

103 Year Resident Martha Nelson Dies in Ohio
Martha Nelson, committed to the Columbus State School for the Feeble Minded in 1875 at age four, died at 103 after 99 years in state institutions. The Ohio Department of Mental Health announced her death and funeral arrangements, noting she had no known family and that records were destroyed in a fire.
